Basketball Recap: Massena Comes Up Short

Massena was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Franklin Academy Huskies, falling 55-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Raiders have suffered against the Huskies since December 8, 2021.

Defeat or not, Massena got some senior leadership from Taylor Mitchell and Tapeni Labrake. Mitchell went 6 for 15 on his way to 15 points, while Labrake posted 12 points and six boards. The match was Mitchell's seventh in a row with at least ten points.

Brad Poupore was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 15 en route to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists for Franklin Academy. Another player making a difference was Blake Hanna, who had seven points and six boards.

Massena's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Franklin Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Massena wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-44 victory against Ogdensburg Free Academy on the 14th. As for Franklin Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-43 defeat against Potsdam on the 16th.
