Edison hasn't had much luck against Stagg recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Vikings will take on the Delta Kings at 6:30 p.m. Edison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Edison was handed a eight-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Chavez 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since March 1st.
The team relied heavily on Leila Tatupu, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. That's the most triples she has posted since back in February. Francisa Moran also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Stagg entered their tilt with Franklin on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Yellowjackets with a sharp 14-2 win. Considering the Delta Kings have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Rachael Symoungkhoune was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliana Chavez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Stagg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.
Edison's record now sits at 9-14. As for Stagg, their record is now 17-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Edison has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Stagg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Edison came up short against Stagg in their previous meeting back in March, falling 5-0. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
