Softball Recap: Reese Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Reese barely beat Kingston the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rockets blew past the Cardinals 10-4 on Monday. While the Rockets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-30), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Kylie Soper made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Reese let Jaidyn VanOchten and Ashtyn Frost run wild. VanOchten got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Frost went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. VanOchten is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Hall, who went 1-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

Reese hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Reese has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Kingston, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coincidentally, Reese and Kingston will both be playing Caro the next time they take the field. The Cardinals will head out to face the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rockets will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
