Baseball Recap: Delphi Community Extends Winning Streak to Six

Delphi Community waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Marquette Catholic Blazers. The Oracles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Ryan Colella tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Brett Huffman was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Keigan Watts, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Delphi Community was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Delphi Community pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Marquette Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Delphi Community will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Blazers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
