Baseball Recap: Mulberry Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mulberry had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Hardee Wildcats by a score of 4-1. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in February, they had to take a 5-4 loss.

Gavin Stedman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Stedman wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nic Partridge, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Mulberry is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hardee, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Mulberry will square off against Lake Wales at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hardee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
