Basketball Game Preview: Cape Henlopen Vikings vs. Wicomico Indians

The Cape Henlopen Vikings will square off against the Wicomico Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Cape Henlopen is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Smyrna, who was ranked fourth at the time (Cape Henlopen was ranked ninth). Cape Henlopen took a 65-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Smyrna on Friday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Cape Henlopen got top-tier performance from Amalia Fruchtman, who went 10-for-13 en route to 24 points along with eight boards and three blocks. The contest was Fruchtman's third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Havyn Greene, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Wicomico entered their game against Parkside on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Wicomico fell just short of Parkside by a score of 54-52.

Cape Henlopen's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Wicomico, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 14-1 and their overall record down to 17-3.
