Basketball Recap: Cole Kuykendall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tuscarawas Valley over Minerva

Tuscarawas Valley lost against Minerva back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tuscarawas Valley Trojans fell 62-53 to the Minerva Lions.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cole Kuykendall, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 20 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Kuykendall a new career-high. Brody May was another key player, going 5-for-9 on his way to 17 points and three steals.

Tuscarawas Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Minerva, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-12.

Coming up, Tuscarawas Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Tuscarawas Central Catholic at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Minerva, they will face off against John Glenn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Minerva has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 189 points over their last three contests.
