Basketball Recap: Thornton Comes Up Short

Thornton was the 52-45 winner over Kenwood when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Thornton Wildcats were outmatched by the Kenwood Broncos and fell 64-32. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while the Broncos are ranked second).

Thornton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jeremy Blanco-Rios, who posted ten points and seven rebounds, and Kobe Stevenson, who earned eight points.

This is the second loss in a row for Thornton and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Kenwood, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Thornton will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Thornwood at 6:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Kenwood, they will face off against Romeoville at 5:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. One thing working in Kenwood's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matches.
