Softball Game Preview: North Mac Panthers vs. Greenville Comets

The North Mac Panthers will take on the Greenville Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

North Mac fell victim to Sangamon Valley/Tri-City and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 9-0 to the Storm, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Panthers have struggled against the Storm recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Greenville got themselves on the board against Collinsville on Wednesday, but Collinsville never followed suit. They blew past the Kahoks 10-0. Considering the Comets have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Greenville has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for North Mac, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

North Mac skirted past Greenville 8-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
