Basketball Game Preview: East Carteret Mariners vs. Pamlico County Hurricanes

East Carteret and Pamlico County are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The East Carteret Mariners will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Pamlico County Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. Pamlico County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on East Carteret, who comes in off a win.

Pamlico County better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when East Carteret really get things going. East Carteret blew past Jones 57-37 on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Mariners as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Lukas Styron went supernova for East Carteret, going 9 for 17 en route to 22 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Styron a new career-high in points. Jayedon Watson was another key player, putting up ten points along with five boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Pamlico County had to suffer through a 77-35 loss at the hands of Northside - Pinetown. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pamlico County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for East Carteret, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
