Volleyball Game Preview: Hinsdale South Hornets vs. York Dukes

The Hinsdale South Hornets are taking a road trip to square off against the York Dukes at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. York took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Hinsdale South, who comes in off a win.

On Monday, Hinsdale South earned a 2-0 win over Riverside-Brookfield. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Hinsdale South didn't let Riverside-Brookfield take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 28-26.

Meanwhile, York faced Oak Park-River Forest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Dukes took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies.

While York was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-20.

Hinsdale South will need to focus on slowing down Ben Wede, one of several York players who made an impact when they last played. He had nine digs and one assist.

Hinsdale South's victory bumped their record up to 18-11. As for York, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-9.

Hinsdale South came up short against York in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
