Football Recap: Smith County Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Smith County couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost to the Gordonsville Tigers at home by a 20-6 margin on Friday. The Owls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Gordonsville can attribute much of their success to Bryson Grisham, who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown. Maddux Randolph also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Smith County will look to defend their home field on Friday against DeKalb County at 7:00 p.m. As for Gordonsville, they will head out to challenge Watertown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
