Basketball Game Preview: West Anchorage Eagles vs. Colony Knights

West Anchorage is 0-5 against Colony since February of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:45 p.m. West Anchorage knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Colony likes a good challenge.

West Anchorage is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since February 8th last Saturday. They skirted past Service 65-62. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

West Anchorage's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ariel Misa, who went 8-for-16 en route to 22 points. The dominant performance gave Misa a new career-high in points. Aniah Harris was another key player, shooting 47% from the field to rack up 16 points.

Meanwhile, Colony came tearing into last Saturday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 45-44 W against the Warriors.

Colony's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points on average over those games. As for West Anchorage, their win bumped their record up to 15-10.

West Anchorage took a serious blow against Colony when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 76-37. Can West Anchorage avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
