Softball Game Preview: Miramonte Matadors vs. Las Lomas Knights

Miramonte hasn't had much luck against Las Lomas recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Matadors will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Miramonte is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

On Monday, it was close, but Miramonte sidestepped Concord for a 2-1 win. That's two games straight that the Matadors have won by just one run.

Abby Warren spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Miramonte's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gianna Granzella, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Las Lomas' good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against Berean Christian, falling 10-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered against the Eagles since March 9, 2017.

Miramonte's win bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Las Lomas, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
