Football Recap: O'neill Skates Past Ponca with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask O'Neill). They claimed a resounding 69-0 victory over the Ponca Indians. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 63-point advantage.

O'Neill was led to victory by Braxen Eichelberger and Turner Heiss. Eichelberger gained 155 total yards and two touchdowns, while Heiss threw for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes. Those 143 passing yards gave Heiss a new career-high. Grady Welke also helped out as he racked up 110 rushing yards.

O'Neill's run defense was locked in: Ponca could only muster 0.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Welke for the heroic effort on defense: he. O'Neill didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.6.

O'Neill didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Ian Yates, Porter Mathews, and David Garcia picked up one apiece.

The win keeps O'Neill at an undefeated 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 52.5 points this season. As for Ponca, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
