Basketball Recap: Westside Takes a Loss

Westside lost against T.L. Hanna back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Rams took an 83-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellow Jackets. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (62), the Rams still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Westside still got an impressive performance from Jonovan Webb, who shot 55% from the field to rack up 30 points and three steals. The contest was Webb's third in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Dee Davis, who went 8-for-18 on his way to 21 points.

T.L. Hanna's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brice Wiersma, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards. Wiersma has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Kaleb Allen was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Westside and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for T.L. Hanna, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Looking ahead, Westside is taking a road trip to face off against Mauldin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams will be up against the Mavericks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for T.L. Hanna, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hart County at 7:30 p.m. The Yellow Jackets will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
