Basketball Recap: Vanier (Courtenay, British Columbia) Takes a Loss

Vanier (Courtenay, British Columbia) kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 57-31 to the NC GBB Academy National Eagles.

NC GBB Academy National's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amayah Barnes, who went 5-for-12 en route to 17 points and four steals. Barnes' evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tia Bryant, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

The victory (which was NC GBB Academy National's third in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Vanier (Courtenay, British Columbia) does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for NC GBB Academy National, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-61 win against Southeastern Prep Academy National on the 13th.
