Hart County extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 11-13-1 in the process. They came up short against the Larue County Hawks, falling 9-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 last Tuesday.
Hart County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Minor, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
As for Larue County, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 18-2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games.
On Larue County's side, Lucas Thompson was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave Thompson a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other pitching news, Ayden Seidl and Hunter Richardson dominated on the mound. Seidl tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Richardson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Richardson posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Skaggs, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hart County will face off against McLean County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Larue County, they will square off against Green County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
