Baseball Recap: Monterey Comes Up Short

Monterey fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Soledad on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Aztecs by a score of 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Monterey saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Rose, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Monterey's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Soledad, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-16 record.

Coming up, Monterey will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Hollister at 7:00 p.m. The Haybalers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Dores surely won't give up without a fight. As for Soledad, they will take on Palma at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Chieftains will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
