Softball Recap: Archbishop McCarthy Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Archbishop McCarthy can now relate to. They fell just short of the Key West Conchs by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. The Mavericks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Conchs from their previous meeting back in March of 2022.

Sienna Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Izabel Baron made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Archbishop McCarthy's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Key West, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Archbishop McCarthy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Key West, they will challenge American Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Conchs surely won't give up without a fight.
