Soccer Game Preview: Wimberley vs. Davenport

The Wimberley Texans are taking a road trip to square off against the Davenport Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wimberley has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Davenport will come in with three straight victories.

Wimberley came up short against Marble Falls on Friday, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, the Texans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 684th, while the Mustangs are ranked 314th).

Meanwhile, in Friday's Canine Competition, Davenport prevailed. They blew past Bandera 4-1 on Friday. The score was close at the half, but Wolves pulled away in the second half with two goals.

Josh Atampi and Vicente Hernandez scored all four of Davenport's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 28 goals.

Wimberley's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Davenport, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Wimberley came up short against Davenport in their previous meeting back in February, falling 3-1. Can Wimberley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
