Recap: Rocky River Pirates vs. Lakewood Rangers
After flying high against the Valley Forge Patriots on Monday, the Rocky River Pirates came back down to earth. Rocky River took a 55-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakewood. Rocky River was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lakewood apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Rocky River's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Ricketti, who scored 11 points. Ricketti is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Julian Patti, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Rocky River's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Lakewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rocky River's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bay at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Rocky River focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to take on Normandy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakewood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Normandy likes a good challenge.
