Baseball Game Preview: Carman-Ainsworth Cavaliers vs. Bentley Bulldogs

Carman-Ainsworth hasn't had much luck against Bentley recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cavaliers will welcome the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Carman-Ainsworth has given up an average of 13.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Carman-Ainsworth is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Monday. They came up short against Dow, falling 21-5.

James Thorpe made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season. Joe Fletcher was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, in Monday's Canine Competition, Bentley came out on top. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Genesee on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won four in a row.

Hunter Trottier made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Bentley's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Trottier was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brady Kagerer was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Garrett Leonard, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Carman-Ainsworth's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Bentley, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 5-7.
