Basketball Recap: Marine City Takes a Loss

Marine City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 72-25 loss at the hands of the Center Line Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Mariners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 612th, while the Panthers are ranked 193rd).

Center Line's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was KAMEREN HIGGINBOTHAM, who went 14 for 21 en route to 30 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. The contest was HIGGINBOTHAM's third in a row with at least ten points. TE'REZ HOLMES was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Marine City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Center Line, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Marine City has already played their next match (against Richmond), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Center Line will challenge Marysville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
