Softball Recap: South Fort Myers Wolfpack vs. Estero Wildcats
South Fort Myers extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-16 in the process. They came up short against the Estero Wildcats, falling 26-10. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolfpack of the 20-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
As for Estero, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Estero's part, Makenzie Baxter made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Baxter a new career-high in strikeouts (two). She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Lindsay Klatt was incredible, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Allee Johnson was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
