It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but West Cabarrus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Cox Mill Chargers 35-34. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolverines also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

The critical scores for West Cabarrus came from Ka'Derrick Lewis, Johnta Harrison, Jayden Reid, and Camari McCrae.

West Cabarrus didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lewis and Rodriquez Harrison. Lewis got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Cox Mill still got an impressive performance from Sione Latimore, who picked up 187 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Latimore's longest reception was for an incredible 85 yards. Carter Casteel was another key player, throwing for 278 yards and three TDs.

West Cabarrus is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for Cox Mill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

West Cabarrus wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 41-38 win against Central Cabarrus on the 24th. As for Cox Mill, they have also already played their next matchup, a 47-21 loss against A.L. Brown on the 24th.
