It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but West Cabarrus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 35-34 victory over the Cox Mill Chargers. That's more bragging rights for the Wolverines, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

West Cabarrus didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ka'Derrick Lewis and Rodriquez Harrison.

When it comes to explaining why Cox Mill lost, don't look at Sione Latimore. Despite the final result, he picked up 187 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Latimore really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 85 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Casteel, who threw for 278 yards and three TDs.

West Cabarrus is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for Cox Mill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

West Cabarrus didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 41-38 win against Central Cabarrus on the 24th. As for Cox Mill, they have also already played their next matchup, a 47-21 loss against A.L. Brown on the 24th.
