Baseball Recap: Xaverian Beats Monsignor Mcclancy for Their Third Straight Win

Xaverian proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Monsignor McClancy Crusaders. The victory was familiar territory for the Clippers, who have now won three contests in a row.

Xaverian got a great performance from Robert Ladesma as he struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits.

On the hitting side, Xaverian's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Danny Cronin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Cronin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Xaverian pushed their record up to 7-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Monsignor McClancy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Monsignor McClancy has already played their next game (against Holy Trinity), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Xaverian will be paying especially close attention to the Crusaders' contest: after the Crusaders face off against the Titans, they'll take on Xaverian again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
