Baseball Game Preview: Orangewood Christian Rams vs. East River Falcons

The Orangewood Christian Rams will host the East River Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Orangewood Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so East River's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Orangewood Christian needed a bit of extra time to put away Trinity Prep. They won by a run and slipped past the Saints 5-4. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by just one run.

Orangewood Christian got a great performance from Rhys Oldham as he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Oldham has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Wendorf, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 4-for-5. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Sakala, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for East River, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Cypress Creek by a score of 7-3 on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won five in a row.

Jayden Vazquez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Elijah Sealey, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

East River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Creek only managed four hits.

Orangewood Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for East River, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
