Basketball Game Preview: Manor Mustangs vs. Vandegrift Vipers

The Manor Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Vandegrift Vipers at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Manor's tournament run continued when they took on Midlothian on Saturday. Manor ended the year with a bang, routing Midlothian 60-40. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Vandegrift didn't have too much trouble with Burnet on Saturday as they won 58-39. Given the Vipers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 511th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vandegrift is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points per game. As for Manor, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.

Manor was taken down by Vandegrift 59-31 when the teams last played back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Manor was down 43-9.
