Basketball Recap: NELA Christian Homeschool's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

It's playoff time, and NELA Christian Homeschool had no trouble coming through when it counted. They secured a 34-30 W over the Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics Storm on Friday. Given the Flame's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Storm are ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Storm players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malorie Miller, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Miller is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Lonsberry, who earned two points and six blocks.

The win made it two in a row for NELA Christian Homeschool and bumps their season record up to 18-1. As for Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.

NELA Christian Homeschool will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cornerstone Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 18th. As for Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics, they have already played their next contest, a 47-37 win against Christian Home Educators Fellowship on the 8th.
