The Lakeland Dreadnaughts will challenge the Lake Region Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lakeland has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Lake Region will arrive with three straight victories.
On Tuesday, Lakeland came up short against Winter Haven and fell 8-3.

Lakeland got a good showing from CHASE FREDENBURG, who struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave FREDENBURG a new career-high.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Region). They were the clear victors by a 21-9 margin over Ridge Community on Monday. Considering the Thunder have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Jehiel Gomez, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. Lake Region is 3-1 when Gomez posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dan Colon, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Lake Region was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Lake Region, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lakeland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. However, it's not like Lake Region struggles in that department as they've averaged .465. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
