Soccer Game Preview: Centennial vs. Santiago

The Centennial Huskies and the Santiago Sharks will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

On Monday, it was close, but Centennial ultimately received the gift of a 2-1 victory from a begrudging Centennial squad. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Spartans are ranked 494th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Santiago's game on Monday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They had just enough and edged Hillcrest out 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sharks.

Centennial's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Santiago, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Centennial came out on top in a nail-biter against Santiago in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 2-1. Will Centennial repeat their success, or does Santiago have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
