St. John's Prep faced Methuen in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles walked away with a 3-1 win over the Rangers. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-19, 19-25, 25-13.
Methuen's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shawn LaDuke, who had nine digs and three blocks. LaDuke is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 18 or more in each of the last 27 games he's played dating back to last season. Lucas Giard was another key player, getting 15 kills, five digs, and four blocks.
St. John's Prep pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Methuen, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5.
