Baseball Game Preview: Kennedy Memorial Mustangs vs. South Amboy Governors

For the second straight game, Kennedy Memorial will face off against South Amboy. The Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Governors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Kennedy Memorial is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

On Friday, Kennedy Memorial came up short against South Amboy and fell 7-3.

For South Amboy's part, Micah Nemeth made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave Nemeth a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jeremy Vazquez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

South Amboy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Kennedy Memorial now has a losing record of 2-3. As for South Amboy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
