Alexander Central faced South Caldwell in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cougars came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 11-7. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their 16th in a row.

Alexander Central pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Caldwell, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alexander Central will square off against McDowell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Titans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for South Caldwell, they will face off against Ashe County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
