The Etiwanda Eagles will take on the Aliso Niguel Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Etiwanda will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
Etiwanda is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of California's top teams: Upland, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Etiwanda was ranked ninth). The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Highlanders/Scots 7-6 on Friday.
The team relied heavily on Brianna Gutierrez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Dailynn Battee, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, while Aliso Niguel put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Dana Hills. The Wolverines were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Dolphins. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Dolphins: they've now won eight in a row.
Olivia Kuhnel tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Sloan Lorenzo was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Ella Haugo was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Aliso Niguel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Etiwanda pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Aliso Niguel, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 12-10-1.
