Basketball Game Preview: St. Johns Country Day Spartans vs. Beachside Barracudas

The St. Johns Country Day Spartans will take on the Beachside Barracudas in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Johns Country Day is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season.

St. Johns Country Day is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. The contest between them and Bishop Snyder didn't end well, with St. Johns Country Day falling 59-43. The game marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the loss, St. Johns Country Day saw an underclassman step up: freshman Elliot Graham posted 11 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Graham a new career-high in rebounds. Camden Cooper was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, St. Johns Country Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Beachside has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-39 heartbreaker at the hands of Tocoi Creek. While losing is never fun, the Barracudas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while the Toros are ranked 37th).

St. Johns Country Day now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Beachside, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
