Football Recap: Burges Takes a Loss

Burges lost against Hanks back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The game between the Mustangs and the Knights didn't end well, with the Mustangs falling 35-21. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Burges lost, don't look at Nezahul Cisneros. Despite the final result, he rushed for 179 yards and two scores while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Cisneros' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 140 rushing yards.

Austin Deucher had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 202 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also picking up 36 receiving yards and one TD for Hanks. Jordan Morales was another key player, throwing for 303 yards and a pair of TDs.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-3. As for Hanks, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Burges will square off against Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will be up against the Scorpions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 47.4 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Hanks, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Del Valle at 7:00 p.m. The Conquistadores' defense has only allowed 13.7 points per game this season, so the Knights' offense will have their work cut out for them.
