Volleyball Recap: Appleton North Comes Up Short

Appleton North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Catholic Memorial Crusaders. The Lightning were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.

Gracie Hartjes paced Appleton North's offense, picking up five kills. Hartjes got some help from Lydia Koshuta and her five assists. Ellis Brinkman and Briah DeBoard kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Appleton North's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Catholic Memorial, with the win, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 10-10.

Appleton North didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Wisconsin Lutheran on the 20th. As for Catholic Memorial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Muskego on the 20th.
