Basketball Game Preview: Oldenburg Academy Twisters vs. Connersville Spartans

The Oldenburg Academy Twisters will head out on the road to face off against the Connersville Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Oldenburg Academy fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Seton Catholic on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. The Twisters' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Connersville lost 71-50 to Harrison on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Raiders are ranked 46th).

Oldenburg Academy will have to contain Hunter Allen as he made an impact in Connersville's last game. He went 7 of 12 on his way to 20 points and three steals. Those 20 points gave Allen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadan Peterson, who posted seven points and seven assists.

Oldenburg Academy's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2. As for Connersville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
