Recap: South Oak Cliff Bears vs. Port Neches-Groves Indians
The South Oak Cliff Bears and the Port Neches-Groves Indians squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the South Oak Cliff Bears had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 20-17. South Oak Cliff's loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why South Oak Cliff lost, one person who can't be blamed is Danny Green jr. Despite the final result, he rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Green jr has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last five times he's played.
Port Neches-Groves can attribute much of their success to Isaiah Nguyen, who rushed for 111 yards.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Port Neches-Groves, racking up 12 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Gio Oceguera: he added 12 points with four field goals.
Another reason for the win was Port Neches-Groves' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 5.5 sacks. Leading the way was Andres Fuentes and his three sacks.
South Oak Cliff's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3. As for Port Neches-Groves, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1.
South Oak Cliff does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Port Neches-Groves also has no future games currently scheduled.
