Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Floyd Central's Fourth in Last Five Outings

If Magoffin County wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Floyd Central, they should've done a better job of containing Chloe Crase. The Floyd Central Jaguars simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Magoffin County Hornets 77-46 thanks in part to Crase, who went 8 of 13 on her way to 21 points and five rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in March of 2024.

Reagan Laferty was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. She is becoming a predictor of Floyd Central's success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 13-5 (and 1-2 when she doesn't).

Floyd Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 31.9% in those games and 31.8% outside of them. As for Magoffin County, they dropped their record down to 5-16 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Floyd Central will square off against Prestonsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Magoffin County has already played their next game (against Martin County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
