Alice Han was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Demi Alfonso also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Gunn 30-1. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 13 runs or more this season.
Allison Lui and Hailey Truong were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Lui pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Truong tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lui has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Lui went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Truong scored five runs and stole a base while going 1-for-6.
In other batting news, Notre Dame got a massive performance out of Skylar Loo, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. Juliette Ramirez was another key player, going 3-for-6 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Notre Dame always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .582. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gunn only posted an OBP of .176.
Notre Dame's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for San Mateo, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. San Mateo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Notre Dame struggles in that department as they've averaged .505. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
