Basketball Recap: Payson Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Payton Stuart and Dane White

Payson lost against Northwest Christian back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Payson Longhorns took a 45-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northwest Christian Crusaders. The matchup marked the Longhorns' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Dane White and Payton Stuart certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. White went 5 for 11 en route to 10 points and eight boards, while Stuart posted eight points and nine rebounds. Stuart also put up a block, which washis first of the season. Aldan Parsons was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Payson and nudges their season record down to 7-11. As for Northwest Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.

When Payson and Northwest Christian next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Payson will take on Gilbert Christian and their five-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Northwest Christian will try to stop Benjamin Franklin's four-game winning streak when the meet at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
