Basketball Game Preview: Chaparral Firebirds vs. Desert Mountain Wolves

Chaparral is 1-9 against Desert Mountain since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Chaparral Firebirds will venture away from home to challenge the Desert Mountain Wolves at 7:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Chaparral came up short against Campo Verde and fell 55-47. The Firebirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Desert Mountain). They breezed by Arizona College Prep to the tune of 77-50 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Desert Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.

Chaparral might still be hurting after the 61-41 defeat they got from Desert Mountain in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Chaparral avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
