Softball Game Preview: Doniphan West Mustangs vs. Troy Trojans

The Doniphan West Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Troy Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Doniphan West blew Onaga out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Onaga got their revenge. Doniphan West fell just short of Onaga by a score of 5-3.

Clara Feighner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Brennah Edie made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Troy and Valley Falls, and Troy kept the tradition alive. Troy put the hurt on Valley Falls with a sharp 21-15 victory on Monday. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Troy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Doniphan West, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
