League recap: Baldwin's Parris delivers best pitching performance from past week

1A District 7 league recap: 4/3/13

Garrett Parris was the best pitcher in 1A District 7 this week, leading Baldwin. Over the past week, he had one win and 28 Ks.

Jared Painter had the hottest bat in the league this week, racking up a .306 average with five RBIs. Meanwhile, the Indians put together a 1-1 week.

Newberry's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only eight hits and zero walks, both of which led the league.

Baldwin's 84 strikeouts this week were a league-worst, but the Panthers have struck out more times (124) than any other team this year.

Dustin Hersey's seven RBIs this week put him at the number one spot for the league. Hersey has 17 RBIs this season, third in the league.



Painter led the league with 11 hits this week for Baldwin. He is ninth in the league with 13 hits this year, and has a .302 batting average.

The Fightin' Tigers' Hersey struck out eight Columbia hitters en route to a 4-3 victory on March 29. Over his five innings pitched he allowed one run on one hit.
