Baseball Game Preview: Creekside Knights vs. North Marion Colts

The Creekside Knights will head out to take on the North Marion Colts at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Creekside has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Creekside's victory against Columbia wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Creekside skirted past Columbia 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since February 11th.

Creekside got a great performance from Matthew Bysheim as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Bysheim has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Creekside saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Morton, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, North Marion has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 4.08 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They fell just short of Santa Fe by a score of 11-10. Colts fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Raiders since on Tuesday.

Trenton Ramsey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of North Marion's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Rowan Quartararo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Even though they lost, North Marion hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

North Marion now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Creekside, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Everything went Creekside's way against North Marion in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Creekside made off with a 6-0 win. Does Creekside have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Marion turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
