Softball Game Preview: MacArthur Generals vs. Tarkington Longhorns

The MacArthur Generals will be taking part in a tournament against the Tarkington Longhorns at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Tarkington took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on MacArthur, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, MacArthur turned things around against Eisenhower on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles an 11-0 shutout.

The team relied heavily on Miranda Machado, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ava Marie Ruiz, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

MacArthur hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Tarkington fell victim to Vidor and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 15-0 to the Pirates.

Tarkington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oakley Blackburn, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

MacArthur's record now sits at 2-8-1. As for Tarkington, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

MacArthur might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Tarkington in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can MacArthur avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
